your Own Home Based Business – Is it the Holy Grail?

Hardly a day passes when an email does not land on your inbox enticing you to buy that magical turnkey which would open the door to your financial freedom via some kind of internet home based business. I’m sure, at some point or other, many of us have hungrily opened several of these promising packages.

Who wouldn’t want to have the lifestyle where you work from home and don’t have to drive through traffic, or commute in crowded trains in the wee hours of the morning to get to work on time, and coming home when the day is over (where’s my life gone?!). Where you work on something you’re passionate about, to your own timetable and agenda, to be your own boss. And your income, well, the sky’s the limit, so they tell you.

But This Path is Not for Everyone

Have you ever bought one of these programs only to find yourself in very unknown territory, a virtual nightmare from which you don’t know how to get out? To make the situation worse, more often than not, you find there’s nobody of the flesh and blood variety to talk to, to vent your frustration at. If you happen to talk with somebody, you can’t even begin to explain the computer web you’ve entangled yourself in. Every single piece of this convoluted puzzle you finally solve only opens up a different level of complicated internet jargon jungle. After hours of this, you find you’ve only done a little bit, and you have 29 more steps to do and it’s already close to midnight!

They all say, you don’t have to be a “techie” to do this right. No, don’t! You have to be a saint with incredible patience and endurance and possessing the mental calibre of a PhD! For a “newbie” (that’s the term they call the wet-behind-the-ears-would-be-internet marketer on their way to the promised land), it sure feels that way!

Just try and sign up for an autoresponder account, then put in your global links into 81 follow up emails, or open an account with payment agencies! It’s like applying for a visa to an iron curtain country or being interviewed for the secret service! The steep learning curve requires burning the candles at both ends, as you plough through hours and hours of required training. You spend a heaps of time waiting for your computer to load the training videos, and you suddenly realise it’s now truly past midnight! And you ask yourself again, “WHY am I doing all this!”

A very crucial question indeed which you have not only to ask yourself but make absolutely certain that you answer. If you don’t have a good enough answer, you are in for it. If you don’t have compelling reasons for why you want to take this road to that land of financial freedom, you will most likely give up! (if you have not already). Your vision has to be firmly focused and secured not only in your mind but in your heart – a vision of the kind of life you want and why you think the home business is your chosen way get achieve it.

Envision Your Future

What attracts you to having a home based business? Is it the freedom to work on your true passion and interest, the opportunity to captain your destiny, steer your own life? be your own boss? Have the opportunity to earn massive income? Is it the flexibility of working time so you can take the time off and watch you children’s sports, spend more quality time with your family and loved ones? or to take that holiday with your family without having to schedule leave from the boss? the challenge to reach for the highest income? to be able to work from anywhere in the world? Whatever it is that make you unique and what to share with the world. If you don’t keep that vision firmly and constantly before you, it’s hard not to give up through the seriously challenging time particularly at the start of setting your business up.

The X-Factor

You see, this path is not for everyone.

It’s rather more of an initiation course for heroes and heroines, for singular men and women with the “X-factor”.

It’s not so much that you are testing yourself against this hydra headed beast called the computer and internet technology, the real fight is against yourself! Our challenge is with ourselves. Everyday, you have to wake up and battle against the enemy of limiting momentums, negative thoughts and beliefs, procrastination and laziness, fear and doubt, habits of compromises and the easy way of non-responsibility. And the big one, the seductive ways of living in the secure confines of what you already know – even if it is not offering you what you want. If you are wary about taking an untrodden path and going the way of the adventurer, even though in your soul you know that it could lead you to the place of your true fulfillment, this could be a scary ride for you.

This path needs for you to take a deeper look within yourself and seek to understand why you tolerate these habits and allow these limiting beliefs and negative talk to rule your life. There’s no way around them, if you want to succeed in your quest for that life of freedom and wealth, you have to confront and overcome them. You have to endure the discomfort of not knowing for sure. You have to learn, unlearn and relearn many things. After thinking seriously and carefully about it, making thorough investigations and coming to rational and intuitive judgments about it, you have to do something only you can do, and that is cross that Rubicon or that “point of no return”, that absolute decision to go for it and make it work. You have to determine to do all that you need to do to achieve your goalsee this.

To Be or Not To Be – That truly IS the Question!

In the process, you get to discover what stuff you’re really made of. Are you easily tempted to renege on your dreams at the first signs of difficulties and seeming obstacles? Are you tempted to settle to live a twilight life because it’s more secure and “it’s better than nothing”. Can you tell when you have compromised and lied to yourself? Unless you are truly happy and fulfilled in your situation now and you feel that your are living your calling in life, it would be instructive to ask yourself, why are you still doing what you’re doing. What are you giving up? What are you tolerating? What are you compromising? Have you had enough of it?

On the other hand, if you’re doing something you love, what you are meant to do, something that gives you joy, purpose and fulfilment, you will inevitable do it with energy and passion, and with that touch of creative genius that only you can provide and thereby attract abundance (not only financial) to you while you offer your unique contribution to the world.

You have to take courageous and massive action. You have to birth your dreams with decision, determination, drive and a practical plan. It won’t be given to you on a silver platter. But, if you have had enough of a life lived by proxy or a life that is simply tolerated, and are now at that point where you finally want to do something about it, then, who knows? Then building your own home business may be perfect platform for you! Take a stand for yourself and take that positive step forward. Your brighter, more fulfilling abundant future eagerly awaits you.
